Tower Hamlets Advice Work Training Project

Island Advice Centre is facilitating an exciting training opportunity for unemployed residents of Tower Hamlets who want to train to become advice workers, trainees will have to be available for a minimum of two days per week for a period of one year

Trainees will attend a formal training course one day per week (Tuesdays starting September  – usual school holidays apply).  The training covers: policies/principles of advice work, welfare benefits, housing, employment and debt (see current years course plan for details)

Trainees will also carry out a work placement in one of our partner advice agencies in Tower Hamlets for at least one day a week (this is in addition to the training day) – days/time/venues for this vary.

This is a voluntary work placement/training scheme – trainees are not paid.  However trainees will obtain work experience, excellent training and improve prospects of obtaining a fulfilling and satisfying job in the future.

You must be a resident of Tower Hamlets, not already in full time education and not working more than 16 hours to be eligible for the training
